CIRCULAR OF THE MONTH OF JUNE 2022

Dear Members,

Apologies for the delay in sending out this months circular.

We ended the month of May with the Canarian lunch on the 27^th May and we are pleased to say that many of our members attended and it was very successful.

As you are all aware this month of June is rather special as we are having some celebrations in the club to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeths Platinum Jubilee.

We started off by holding the Jubilee Bridge Tournament on the 3^rd and 4^th and there were approximately 12 tables of people taking part.

Our Jubilee lunch takes place on Wednesday the 8^th and you will all have seen from the menus already sent out that we have chosen a typical British meal.  Please phone Adriana  to book your tables.

On the 15^th we have Poems Out Loud organized by Ms. Jeannie van Rompeay, the theme being BEAUTY this month.  As always lunch is optional and the readings will start as from approximately 15.30h.

In the afternoon of the 15^th at 18.30h D. Daniel Montesdeoca  has kindly offered to give us a talk, the subject being “Historic  Jewels” obviously including some of those belonging to the British Crown.

On the 22^nd, at l6.30h we shall be planting a tree in our garden in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth´s Jubilee, and this will be followed by a tea party upstairs in the club.  There will be an assortment of sandwiches and cakes all homemade by different members of the Club and at approximately 19.30h we shall draw the Raffle.  There are many exciting prizes so don´t forget to buy your tickets.

Below is the message we have sent to Her Majesty ´Queen Elizabeth in the Clubs name  –

“The President, Committee and members of the British Club of Las Palmas, Canary Islands, join the people of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth in sending warmest greetings to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and are celebrating her Platinum Jubilee with special events.  Long Live the Queen”

June 15^th –  At 18:30 h. Talk by d. Daniel Montesdeoca theme “Historic Jewels”

June 22^nd – 16:30h Planting of the tree followed by tea party and drawing of the Raffle
