British Club Las Palmas

The British Club, founded on October 2nd, 1908, is located in an iconic colonial era building dating from 1902, and retains a quiet and peaceful atmosphere – most of the time!  Centrally situated in Ciudad Jardin, next to the Ayuntamiento, we have our own car park for members and we maintain a programme of events throughout the year as well as a well stocked bar and a restaurant offering full meals or snacks as you prefer.  An ideal spot for meeting friends, business lunches or just to have a quiet drink in the bar and read the newspaper.

If you are interested in joining the Club or just coming along for a look please do feel free to give us a call or email us. We welcome members of all nationalities and host numerous activities.

There is an active bridge club, also canasta, chess, book club, poetry readings, pub quizzes and of course special events such as Christmas Dinner (with our resident pianist to add some festive flavour), Burns Night (likewise), St Patrick’s Day and others throughout the year.

We also have reciprocal visiting arrangements with the National Liberal Club and the Royal Overseas League based in central London.

USUAL OPENING HOURS:
Sunday and Monday – Closed
Tuesday to Friday – 1:00pm to 11:00pm
Saturday – 1:00pm to 5:00pm

We occasionally host events outside our regular hours, especially on weekends, in which case the Club will be open.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Traditional English tea every Friday from 4.30 to 7pm

The club will be closed on All Saints Day, Saturday, November 1st

• 1st October at 20:00 – “Expresar el sentir” – exhibition of silk paintings by Isabel Garron Velarde (until 8th October).
• 2nd October from 18:00 – Birthday Party!! Come along to celebrate the 117th birthday of the British Club with us in the bar

• 7th October at 19:30 – Poetry evening hosted by Philomena Winn – “The Kindness of Strangers”
• 8th October at 19:45 – English language quiz hosted by Marian

• 10th October at 19:30 – Football in the bar – UD Las Palmas v Granada, La Liga 2. With a traditional English fish and chip supper – come and join us!

• 15th October at 18:00 – Spanish language quiz, hosted by Tania
• 17th October from 16:00 – Traditional English afternoon tea
• 18th October from 13:00 to 17:00 – Family Saturday with Burger lunch and board games (feel free to bring your own if you want to!)
• 21st October at 19:00 – “Mathematics, Nature and AI” – conversation with Ben Davison, Professor of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh
• 22nd October at 16:30 – Bingo tea with Sandra Ryan
• 22nd October at 19:30 – English language book club with Anna: “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”
• 24th October from 16:00 – Traditional English afternoon tea
• 29th October at 13:00 – Spanish language book club with Marylola
• 30th October at 13:30 – English language learners lunch – guided conversation with native speakers (please reserve in advance)
